MEET THE TEAM

The Hearts & Hands
Behind Our Care

Expertise and
Empathy, Personified

At Oxford Animal Hospital, we’ve brought together a team of truly special individuals. From our veterinarians to our technicians and support staff, every person here is chosen for their skill, dedication to animal welfare, and natural compassion.

We work collaboratively to ensure your pet receives seamless, comprehensive care from a team that genuinely loves what they do.

Dr. Tamer Mahmoud

Dr. Tamer Mahmoud’s journey in veterinary medicine comes from true passion and a lifelong love for animals. He received his veterinary degree in 2001, and began his career working for six years with an international pharmaceutical company, building a strong foundation in veterinary medicine and patient care.

In 2008, Dr. Tamer made one of the biggest decisions of his life—moving to Canada with his wife and two daughters to build a new future for his family and continue his professional journey. After settling in Canada, he earned his Canadian veterinary license and continued growing his experience step by step.

Before opening his own practice, Dr. Tamer worked in several veterinary clinics and hospitals in Montreal and Chicago, experiences that helped shape his medical confidence, deepen his clinical judgment, and sharpen his surgical skills.

In 2015, he co-founded Oxford Animal Hospital with a clear and heartfelt vision: to create a clinic where every pet is treated like a true family member, and every client feels welcomed, supported, and confident that their pet is receiving the best possible care.

Dr. Tamer has a special interest in small animal surgery, especially soft-tissue procedures and select orthopedic surgeries. Outside the clinic, he enjoys swimming, traveling, and spending quality time with his family.

Dr. Wesam Awadin

Dr. Wesam Awadin has been dedicated to veterinary medicine since earning her veterinary degree in 2001. After an early career in pharmaceutical consulting, she felt a strong calling to return to hands-on clinical work—where she could build deeper relationships with pets and their families—and officially shifted her focus back to clinical practice in 2009.

She spent several years working in Quebec, where she refined her medical and surgical skills while managing a wide variety of cases, from routine wellness visits to complex medical conditions.

In 2012, Dr. Wesam moved to Edmonton, and for the next two years she volunteered with the Edmonton Humane Society. This experience allowed her to give back to the community while further strengthening her clinical judgment and hands-on skills—especially in caring for animals in need.

Over the years, Dr. Wesam has performed hundreds of surgical procedures and developed a special passion for both soft tissue surgery and veterinary dentistry.

Since co-founding Oxford Animal Hospital in 2015, Dr. Wesam has proudly served the Edmonton community with a calm, gentle approach and strong attention to detail. She is known for her patience, compassionate communication, and her ability to guide pet owners through difficult decisions with clarity and care.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Wesam enjoys camping, swimming, and spending quality time with her husband, their two daughters, and their beloved family pets, Minnie and Mike.

Dr. Neven Ghaly

Dr. Neven has been a dedicated advocate for small animals since graduating in 2001. She is known for her calm, compassionate demeanour and strong clinical skills, which she uses to improve the health and well-being of every pet she treats.

She also shares her deep empathy for animals with her family, including her two daughters, her loving husband, and their cat, Soka.

In her free time, Dr. Neven loves to travel with her family, creating new memories and exploring the world.

Dr. Adel Elmallawany

Dr. Adel Elmallawany is a small animal veterinarian with a strong interest in internal medicine and diagnostic imaging, with particular focus on managing complex medical cases and applying advanced diagnostics in daily practice.

Before joining Oxford Animal Hospital in early 2025, Dr. Adel worked with an Artificial Intelligence (AI) company, contributing to the development of veterinary imaging technology by helping train AI systems to interpret and analyze radiographs (X-rays), a unique experience that strengthened his diagnostic skills and attention to detail.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Adel enjoys fitness and strength training, outdoor walks, and football.

Dr. Sina Yousefi,
DVM

Dr. Sina Yousefi is a dedicated veterinarian with over eight years of clinical experience. Before joining Oxford Animal Hospital in 2025, he ran his own mixed-animal clinic, where he cared for a wide range of patients and developed a strong foundation in hands-on veterinary practice.

At Oxford Animal Hospital, Dr. Sina focuses on providing thoughtful, compassionate small-animal care while completing his licensing examinations to become fully licensed in Canada. He works closely with the team to ensure pets receive high-quality medical attention, clear communication, and a calm, reassuring experience during every visit.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Sina enjoys an active lifestyle. He was an avid mountaineer in his home country, plays badminton, outdoor running and enjoys camping.

Jennifer, Clinic Manager

Jennifer began her journey with the clinic in 2016 as an assistant and is now proud to serve as Clinic Manager. Her passion for animal care, leadership, and teamwork has helped shape the welcoming environment clients and pets experience every day.

Originally from England, Jennifer loves to travel and visit home whenever she can. When she’s not at the clinic, she volunteers as the Dog Coordinator for Infinite Woofs Animal Rescue and regularly fosters dogs, combining her love for animals with her commitment to giving them a second chance.

Adana,
Assistant Manager

For Adana, a life surrounded by animals led her directly to a career in their care.

Growing up with pets by her side gave her a natural ability to make them feel safe and reassured, a gift she brings to her role as Assistant Manager. After joining us as a receptionist in 2022, her calm presence and dedication led her to quickly take on more responsibility.

When she isn’t ensuring the clinic runs smoothly, she enjoys an active life with her girl, Beyoncé.

Roshane, Registered
Veterinary Technician

After moving to Canada from Jamaica in 2017, Roshane pursued her dream of becoming a Registered Veterinary Technician at the University of Guelph.

In 2023, she brought her skills, huge heart, and warmth to our team here in Alberta. Though she doesn’t have a pet of her own yet, she pours all her love into caring for our furry visitors, young and old.

When she’s not at the clinic, she loves nothing more than relaxing at home and binge-watching movies with her family.

Kacey,
Registered Veterinary Technician

Kacey has had a lifelong passion for animals, and once she discovered she could combine that love with medicine, she knew veterinary medicine was the career for her. After working for several years as a veterinary assistant, she decided to pursue the more hands-on role of a Registered Veterinary Technologist (RVT). She is currently enrolled in distance education to complete her diploma and challenge the RVT exam.

Since joining our team in 2025, Kacey has balanced work, school, and her role as a medical coordinator for a rescue organization in Alberta. Her love for animals extends well beyond the clinic—at home she has what we fondly call her “personal zoo,” which includes three cats, two dogs, two conures, a ball python, a boa constrictor, and a gargoyle gecko. She frequently fosters medically fragile animals, so her home is always full of activity and care.

Outside of the clinic and rescue work, Kacey enjoys spending time outdoors camping, hiking, horseback riding, and rock climbing whenever she can. She also loves spending time with her partner and family, and together they enjoy tinkering with machines and vehicles—her collection of cars nearly rivals her collection of pets! Kacey brings dedication, compassion, and a genuine love for both animals and their people to everything she does, and she is proud to be part of a team committed to exceptional patient care.

Camilla,
Veterinary Assistant

Our team welcomed Camilla in October 2023, following her successful vet assistant practicum. It was her beloved rottie mix, Prada, who inspired her to pursue a career in the veterinary field.

Camilla, who moved to Canada from Brazil in 2017, is currently working towards her goal of becoming a vet technician.

When she’s not at the clinic, she enjoys staying active by hiking with Prada, going to the gym, and shopping with friends.

Louise,
Veterinary Assistant

Louise is a bright and ambitious member of our team who is currently on the path to becoming a veterinarian while studying Animal Science at the University of Alberta.

Her love for animals started in the Philippines with a pet chicken and a dog named Spaghetti and continues today with her two Border Terrier mixes, Cleo and Zoe. She brings her academic knowledge and passion to her work and hopes to one day have a home full of rescue pets.

Louise is also a creative and active person who enjoys working on her project car, swimming, travelling, and hanging out with friends.

Tamara, Veterinary
Medical Assistant

Tamara’s skill, dedication, and eagerness to learn were so apparent during her 2022 practicum that our team knew she was a perfect fit.

We offered her a job, and she has been a driven member of our team ever since.

She is passionate about making a tangible difference in the lives of pets and their owners, and is sure to achieve great success as she continues her career.

Raegan - Receptionist

Raegan graduated from the University of Alberta in 2025 and is excited to be bringing her passion for animal care to our clinic team. Her love for animals is rooted at home with her German Shepherd, Kona, who keeps her active and constantly reminds her why she chose to work in veterinary medicine.

Raegan is passionate about creating a calm, positive experience for both pets and their people. She values building trust with clients and takes pride in helping every patient feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for during their visit.

When she’s not at the clinic, you’ll likely find Raegan curled up with a good book or out on the water wake surfing in the summer. She enjoys balancing her adventurous side with quiet downtime, always recharging for her next day with the team.
